Covers: "Book of the City"

COVERS

Getting a cover assignment in the role-playing game industry is such a rarity that it makes it all the sweeter when you get one. I treasure the few times a year White Wolf tosses one my way. Not only is it that rare treat I just spoke of but it’s probably my favorite type of illustration to do.

The artwork is going to be gracing the cover of a book – it will be the first thing that people see when they grab it so a cover has monumental importance. I enjoy the challenge of making the artwork that will be representing a particular book be it on the shelves or in catalogs. I think it forces me to challenge myself and to create something that requires every ounce of my skill and passion –something epic.

On a more down-to-earth level, covers are full-color (which not only is more fun to do but pays quite a bit more) and normally come with quite a bit of freedom in what I want to paint.
