WEREWOLF: THE WILD WEST

All of these illustrations actually span two books: the Wild West main rulebook and the Wild West companion book.

These were really fun to work on as I am a fan of the western environment. I love expansive landscapes, mountains, desert, big skies, juniper trees, sage brush, weathered fences and wooden buildings, etc. Not that I incorporated much of that but it helped set the tone. I also love Sergio Leone westerns so The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly was rolling on in the VCR a few times to get in the mood.

I’d love to go back and do these again or at least do some more Wild West pieces. The stuff I did for the main rulebook I feel I didn’t ink very well but some of them are fun. I like the creepy Wyrm-train belching heavy clouds of coal pollution – vultures soaring along in its wake. I also like the abomination which is the vampire/werewolf looking all embarrassed and sketchy. I’m glad I got to work Devil’s Tower into one of these, too.

The coolest is the fomori freak with the atypical villain flat-brimmed hat clenching a cork between shitty teeth. He’s missing an arm and has a plethora of bullet wounds – and, musta been when I first met my wife, because the whiskey bottle touts her maiden name. How precious!
